How is an Orthopedic Pet Injury Diagnosed?

Most families who bring their pet in to see us have some idea of what is going on. Maybe they have noticed that their pet is limping around the house. Perhaps they witnessed the accident and know that something is a bit off with their pet. The first thing we are going to do is try to make your pet as comfortable as possible. We will collect all of the information from you regarding the history of the problem. Then, we are going to perform a physical exam on your pet. We will go through the various limbs and muscles to test them out and see what is going on. After this, we may decide to take some images of that area. This will probably involve a set of x-rays to get a picture of the limbs themselves.

What if my Pet Needs Surgery?

After we have done all of this, we will work as a team to try and decide what the best next step is going to be. This might require the pet to have surgery. We will make sure that we explain exactly what is going to happen in the operation prior to making any decisions. Our team of trained professionals has a lot of experience performing orthopedic pet surgery on a wide variety of animals. We will do everything in our power to make sure that we set your pet up for a successful recovery.
